Program EWS4 key: Xprog+AVDI or VVDIProg+VVDI2?

Here, I will show you two ways of BMW EWS4 new key programming, the first done with Xhorse tools (VVDI-Prog and VVDI2) and the second done with Xprog-M and AVDI key programmer.

Q: Can i make a x series key with the vvdi2 and how? (it’s x3 2004)

A: Yes ...it is ews4 (eeprom job )

 

Q: Taking the ecu out?

A: Not the ecu ...taking immo box out ...its a white box under the steering wheel same size as a pack of cigs.

 

Q: Do i need any adapter for that?

A: you just need open vvdi prog ,select ews4 and will show you the connections....solder it and you are good to read it

 

Q: And does it give you a key code like the cas’s

A: no , is it your first isn’t it?

 

Q: yes it is. Is this what i need?

A: thats not for ews4...VVDI prog have its own EWS4 adapter, so does the AK90

I mean there is ews4 incircuit connect by vvdi prog. Look here:

Option 2: Xprog-M + AVDI program EWS4 keys

Here, take BMW X3 E83 2006

step 1: Xprog-m reads the immobilizer block EWS4.4

So, get the immobilizer block from the car ...

For this we remove the plastic protection above the gas and brake pedals.

We lay down on the threshold, look up and see a white box, this is  EWS4.4 . Unscrew the nut on the right, loosen the nut on the left, remove the connector and take out the block.

This immobilizer unit is assembled on a Motorola MC9S12D64 microcontroller , with a 2L86D mask .

Since on BMW X3 E83 , we registered the key for the first time, it was initially mistakenly assumed that the six points to the right of the processor would be enough for us to read the firmware.

However, Xprog-M , when reading eeprom 2L86D , issued the error:

  • Bootloader initialising error. Can not access BDM. Check BDM connection.

It became clear that the processor is "closed" and to read its firmware you will need a BDM adapter  1-002-0017 and, accordingly, another connection scheme.

But, strictly speaking, this circuit is also MC9S12D64 (2L86D) + Xprog-M (BDM 1-002-0017) .

step 2: avdi Program key to EWS4.4 FROM BMW X3 E83

So, we have a dump, which means that it's up to the small thing to program the chip, which is in our key.

To do this, get the AVDI (ABRITES Vehicle Diagnostic Interface)  and connect the Tag Key Programmer to it  .

We launch the Tag Key Tool , select the Key Tool item and in the Vehicle Model field , select our option - BMW EWS4. PCF7935 or EML . As you can see, only 4 keys can be assigned to the car, well, or a chip.

Click on the Load Dump button and select the dump that we counted from the processor. We tick the Key 3 PCF7935 / EML used and press the Prepare Key button . After that, the program asked:

  • Do you programming original BMW key (EML)? Press NO if you using PIT (PCF793x) transponder.
  • Translation:Do you want to program the original BMW key (EML)? Press NO if you are using a PIT (PCF793x) transponder. "

Click the No button .

Everything, the key is registered in the car. We checked that EWS4.4 gives permission to start the engine and programmed the radio channel

How to get bitting code with SEC-E9 key cutting machine

There are three options to read get bitting code (also named key code) using SEC-E9 automatic key cutting machine.

What is bitting code?

The bitting code is the translated blind code which the locksmith actually uses to cut each blank key. Example: padlock blind code W123 translates to bitting code 25313, to which the locksmith would cut the key with his code machine by setting it to 25313.

What is SEC-E9 key cutting machine?

SEC-E9 Key Cutting Machine is used for cutting car keys and household keys. It covers cylinder and laser keys with adapters for other key styles.

SEC-E9 portable metal desktop air cooling fully automatic smart key cutting machine is able to cut standard keys and high security keys, such as BMW, VW, HONDA, OPEL,etc, SEC-E9 also supports to cut house keys, including dimple keys, tubular keys, single standard keys and motorcycle keys. Ford Tibbe keys and LDV keys are available to cut. SEC-E9 is a good choice for locksmith since you do not need to buy other small key cutting machines for house keys, just need to buy the corresponding clamps for different key types. Moreover, SEC-E9 can cut a new key without original key. It is the main difference from the traditional manual key cutting machine.

How to get key code using SEC-E9 key cutter?

Option 1: decoding the original key

How to use Tech2 for GM Module programming

There are 2 methods to program a module from a GM car using a Tech 2 scan tool:

If you're trying to program a module, there are two methods. I don't remember the exact terminology but one is pass-through and the other is using the Tech 2 as a go-between.

The pass-through is to use with a laptop in the vehicle and it just uses the Tech 2 as the connection between. This is the fastest and easiest way to do it.

The go-between method is for when you can't bring the computer into the vehicle and uses the Tech 2 as a go-between. You connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle and download the module information that you want to program. Then you disconnect, run to the computer running Tis2000, connect it to the computer and download the programming information for that module, disconnect again and run back to the vehicle, connect it and it automatically programs the module. It can take a long time depending on the module (PCM is the longest).

However, if you're getting crank but no start, it's not the Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) as it wouldn't even crank if that was the issue.

What do you prefer & Why? (VVDI2, Hitag, AK300, AK90)

Hey Guys,
do you prefer VVDI 2, or BMW Explorer with Hitag 2 / Hitag Pro?
VVDI2 costs about 2000 USD, and can read / write ISN, make keys and reset / write Odometer.
BMW Explorer cannot be purchased only key maker module for about 900€ with Hitag Programmer. You will need Base E Series Set for 1200€ too.
Or anything else?
AK300, AK90, BMW Multi Tool? Which option to go here?
What do you prefer and why?

Here, I collected lots of tips and reviews of BMW key programmer. It would help decide to buy one.

It depend on bmw job is it for keys or you need more
Ak90 for ews system and very good
Multi tool also good but update stopped they switched to vvdi2
And vvdi2 also good and recently they add the fem module but also you need progrMmer

With VVDI 2, you can't do it key if cas is encrypted, for cars with msv 80, msd 81 didn't work. Better buy BMW explorer or Autohex for bmw, even Tango better than vvdi2.

I mainly do E90 and E60 so I would need something that fits in here.
I have looked after BMW Multi Tool, but support is already done so they switch to VVDI 2. Seems quite good. Can do odometer things etc too.

I am 100% you can't make key for msv80 with vvdi2 if cas was updated. After downgrade still does not work. Other cars like e60 550i, x5 and x6 2010 with dde works very well. I did keyless go in 40 sec.

I own Xhorse vvdi2, but looking for better tool like bmw explorer or Autohex II. I did not find any good review from members with CGDI.

By BMW Explorer license is unlimited right? CGDI is not as it seems.

I am still waiting for review on fem with Autohex HW4 and then I'll decide what to choose.

Had a friend tried to made key for mini cooper s with encrypted cas3+ By vvdi so killed the flash while downgrading Cas3+
he managed to recover CAS and programming keys/ISN using Autohex II
Guess its a bug on vvdi2 . Hoping sorting out by Xhorse team
CGDI Prog may be is another option. Maybe you could have a try. There are many good test reports on the web. Seems it works good with BMW.

What tool for VOLVO key programming? Lonsdor K518ISE only!

Step 1: Read the security data of the CEMmodule

 

Volvo's CEM are located under the co-pilot airbag on the left, remove the debris box

Read CEM data with RN-01 board:

Plug K518ISE host, adapter, and RN-01 board:

Note: the new/old CEM box looks the same, but with different circuits.

For theold version of the CEM box:

when opening the lid, in the back of the circuit board, please pay attention to the black column with blue circles, which are the four positioning points that need to match stably with the white column of RN-01 board.

Note: The circuit board is coated with insulating glue, it is required to use the washing plate water to wash off the blue area of the insulation coating in the contact point (solder joint) , or power can not go through , if the needle of RN-01 board is broken, it will do to wire in the corresponding locations.

For the new version of the CEM box:

the circuit is different, which requires to wire to read the anti-theft data

Connect power to read the data

Separate RN-01 board to the motherboard to prevent it from conduction

Welding cable shouldn’t be more than 15cm

Step 2: Read the security data of the KVM module

Volvo's KVM modules are located after the rear box, in the upside of the right rear wheel position(for 16 S60L car, dismantle from the right rear door to the wheel direction);

Open the module cover

Use the washing plate water to wash off the blue area of the insulation coating, or power can not go through.

The most important note:

To failures in Volvo KVM data reading (coz the chip model is different), please do as follows:

` Use programmer to read out the data (.bin file);

a Contact and send the EEPROM data to K518ISE after-sales service, the engineers will convert the data into a dedicated file;

b Connect K518ISE with computer and put the dedicated file into "file ---> feature_35" folder;

c Following the operations to select the KVM data from the process.

Step 3: Program smart keys via OBD

Refer to the following notes:

  1. For 6 keys, during operation, you need to firstly insert the key into the key slot and then operate by following the directions.
  2. For key recognition failure, please make sure the smart key is not locked, as locked key cannot be programmed, the fresh new key generally will not be locked.
  3. K518ISE has identification & unlock functions, which will test and identify whether a key is an unused one or not. If the remote control is invalid after the key is programmed (on condition that the battery is well installed and the remote control frequency is correct), try to import the CEM security data to unlock the key and then program again.

Note: Only the key of this car or corresponding car can be unlock after reading the CEM security data.

4,When installing Volvo battery, please note that the two batteries are placed in an overlap way and separated by a white paper in the middle, so please do not just replace the above one.

Dismantling is very simplealso , just remove the metal key, and gently pry with a not so sharp knife in the same place where the metal key lies.

VVDI mb tool: Hyundai 3 buttons svi-MDFEU03 not available...(Solved)

This post starts with one user's question: Have VVDI mb tool, the Hyundai 3 buttons svi-MDFEU03 not available on the list but the board look like svi-CMFEU03, i have tried to unlock but i get ic error all time.

Xhorse support replies:

you can do like this: (ensure your VVDI KEY TOOL is latest version)

clean the 7952 chip connection pins.

then use cables soldering 'Brown SDA' connect to 'pin 22', 'Yellow SCL' connect to 'pin21',also VCC GND connected.

testing again and post here the result.

i have test again today .. i have clean the board well...it work ok now the key is now unlocked.

 

i have try to unlock land rover keyless my key frequency is 315MHZ

i have use the menu 5E0U40247 434mhz

after the procedure key frequency changed to 304.5mhz and key info (hitag unable to clone)

Good suggest:

This key not need to open to renew if you want to program on car if is added with abritus.

Also i think you dont need to open to renew eaven if is addes with another tool.

All you can done on obd when adding in kvm
